Happy new year everyone!
Suprisingly I have woken up today on this sunny morning (or should I say afternoon) feeling pretty fresh. Considering I was out seeing the new year in till gone 5am this is quite an amazing achievement!
I have been here in Ko Tao now for quite some time, mostly been chilling out and partying I have to say but its all been fab!
Christmas eve was spent with Megan (the girl I met in Cambodia) plus Jemma (Chiang Mai friend) and a new addition of a Northerm chap called Dan. We had a great night out watching fire poi. These Thai guys are so talented and crazy. The tricks they can do is unbelievable. I sampled the local Thai rum again and made about a million toliet friends!
We stayed out pretty late and I think I woke up about 2pm the next day after feeding most of the local dogs on my way back! Christmas was very strange without family and friends indeed -really missed it but hey at least I didnt end up with a food baby. Nothing could compare to dads roast dinners so I didnt bother with a roast, instead I opted for a green curry on the beach and a few more rums.
The last few days have been relaxing and a couple we met in Cambodia came over which has been great as they are both really lovely and plus they share my love of dogs and are veggies!
I have a new ear piercing on the rim of my ear and I am hoping to get one more-think I will leave the tattoo's though. My hair turned a lovely shade of orange so I dyed it brown. I actually went out in disguise to get the hair dye!
I have been on anti-biotics so the last 3 or so days I have been in bed recovering. My glands came up pretty bad so I wasn't allowed to dive so it looks like I will be defering it now to another time. Bit gutted but its quite dangerous to dive if you have a cold. I will be finding Nemo still though as tomorrow we are all going on a boat trip around the islands to snorkel as its amazing snorkelling round here. Apparently there are black-tipped sharks on shark bay so that should be pretty cool. Dont worry mother, apparently they are very gentle! Not a great white in sight!
For new years eve we went for a meal with a group of people we met the other night and I had the most amazing risotto ever.
As Dad will confirm Thailand have the loudest fireworks ever so it literally sounded like bombs were going off as we ate. There were fire shows all over the beach so it was such a brilliant night.
I also have a new dog who waits on my balcony for me and literally charges when she sees me. She is a bit of a brute and blind in one eye but really sweet really. She is such a legend here as she comes to all the beach parties and even has her own facebook page.
I am just here until the 3rd now and I will start working my way to Bangkok-not sure what exactly I am going to do yet between now and my flight to oz on the 9th but thats half the fun.
Right well I am off to chill in my hammock for the afternoon and be generally lazy!
Hope all your heads arent hurting too much this morning :)
Hope 2012 is a great year for all and just think in 3 months exactly to the day I will be back! Miss you all
Lots of love
Kerry xx
