s21 and the killing fields

Hey all...this computer is about 100years old so bear with me!!

Enjoying it it here...the heat is crazy though-its boiling!! It has been making me feel pretty worn out.

I hired a moto yesterday for most  of the day and my first stop  was S21 museum which was very harrowing and sad. I had read the book first off called 'First they killed my father' and from that I knew it would be awful. Its the school turned prison in the 70s when Pol Pot was in power, and what makes it most upsetting is how plain and stark it is. You saw pictures of the prisoners some of who were just children. I wont talk too much about it other than I am glad I went and it was very sad but important we remember.

Following this I went to the Killing fields which is exactly what it is. This was where the trucks would arrive from the prisons and they were murdered by the soldiers. There is mass graves everywhere but it is a strangely peaceful place and really beautiful now. There is a memorial which holds skulls and bones of the victims which is really shocking to see. As you go round you have a audio guide so it tells you lots of information about it.

Not much more to say so speak soon! xx

Hi Kerry,
Bless you! This sounds like the one of the most emotional moments of your travels so far. Well-done for experiencing it Kerry, despite the sadness, and for not turning a blind eye!.. Good for you - caring as ever!!
Thinking of you - as always.. Take care xx
