The adventures of the Mel

Sepilok and KK

We arose quite early (5:30am) and quickly had breakfast before boarding the boat to leave SRL and head back to KK. It had been raining heavily all night and did not let up. Torrential came to mind several times, and at that point I was in love with my poncho, although it did not stop my pants getting wet. On the bright side though, my jacket turned up after being lost for a day and a half. Hurrah! We boarded the bus on the other side of the river and began an extremely slow drive to Sepilok, the Orang-utan rehabilitation centre.

We arrived a couple of hours later, bumped and bruised, well I would be bruised if I did bruise, but, I could imagine what it would be like, right? Anyway, we went into the centre to view the Orang-utans at feeding time. However, much to our disappointment, they do not like the rain so we did not get to see them at all. Pout pout mega pout. This was to be one of the highlights of the trip, and it didn't turn out. We do have a second chance as there is another orang-utan centre just outside KK which we are booked into, depending on the weather. Please don't rain tomorrow. Please.

We watched a doco on the orang-utans, which was quite good, it had the conservation touch everything else had been missing on this trip. We then went to the airport, to discover our flight had been delayed by three hours. Grumble grumble. Uno anyone?

So, five hours later we boarded the plane back to KK, and arrived four hours later than we should have. We got a shuttle back to the Pacific Sutera (yes, unfortunately we've now made Chelsea a sucker for luxury. That's going to bite her in the ass...). We got upstairs, had a hot shower, got into clean clothes and jumped into bed. We ordered room service and watched trashy TV until about 11 o'clock and went to sleep. Fant-bloody-tastic.

We were rudely awoken at 7:30am by a well-meaning but not well-received family member. Note to all: We are three hours behind you. We still love you. Sigh. We got up, did some washing, went for a walk, had brekkie, and trekked into town to let you all know how we have been going. And wow. Are you tired? I sure am. I've only been sitting here for an hour and forty five minutes, and I'm spent. Chels and I are about to go shopping and have a relaxing day. I might go for a swim later.

Thanks to Gladys for the comment about the card reader, I am going to try to locate one, I imagine it will be much cheaper here than at home.

We hope that you are all having fun, whether you are on holidays or at work. We will be home (at least our respective ones) in less than 6 days now. We fly to Schmingapore on Friday and will be hosteling it up there. I will attempt to post tomorrow, and I'm not sure whether I will post until changi airport after that. I will attempt to.

So until then, enjoy the time we've shared and we'll see you round like a fruit loop but only crunchy..

Bay-bye!
