Ever had cabin fever? Cabin fever can be defined as "Boredom, restlessness, or irritability that results from a lack of environmental stimulation, as from a prolonged stay in a remote, sparsely populated region or a confined indoor area." I am not in a remote or sparsely populated region but I have been confined indoors working and thinking for far too long. I had a need to get out of my house and do something enjoyable, to have a weekday treat. So dinner out was in order.
I decided to walk to Boran, an amazing and well priced restaurant that serves amazing Pad Thai. So when the rain finally subsided I started my walk that was deceptively longer than what it appeared on the map and was filled of dodging puddles, broken pavement tiles, parked cars and motos and saying “No thanks” to the countless moto taxi and tuk tuk drivers who asked if I wanted a lift as I passed each street corner. Granted I was carrying my helmet as I walked so it was a bit confusing for them. The walk made me feel a lot less guilty about eating the food that waited ahead.
As I near the restaurant I could almost smell the food and my hunger was heightened with the anticipation of some good eating. I was not at all disappointed with what I was served and quickly went about devouring the tasty dish before me.
It was still a little early for most to have dinner so I had the place to myself, which suited me fine. Peace and quiet with some great food sounds like a perfect recipe for me.
Once I had finished it was just a short stroll down the street and around the corner to Browns Coffee for a Chai Tea Frappe and some free wifi while sitting in a cosy chair. As I got myself comfortable one of my favourite songs “Falling slowly” started playing through the restaurant and I was able to just close my eyes in complete bliss taking in the moment.
Definitely a nice way to get out and have a relaxing evening. I think now I will open a book (on my computer’s Kindle) and just unwind.
