Teaching in Cambodia

CAMBODIA | Tuesday, 18 January 2011 | Views [184]

They say great teachers need to be good learners, well isn’t that the truth. Even though I am teaching I am daily learning. My students are very encouraging and enthusiastic about learning, that’s what every teacher dreams of - right. We are really working on pronunciation and some days I am given a fright by 80 students echoing my Australian accent back to me (especially /i/ - it’s just scary). They are making great progress and I know that I am making a difference. Once a week I teach a lesson using the Bible and I hope to see more of my students at church and/or Youth Outreach. In some of my free time I hangout in a small meeting room, with some of my Khmer homework, and chat with some of the students…. to build up some friendship. This has been working well and a few students have even helped me with my language learning...so we are all learning together.
