Me at the first Plain of Jars site, outside of Phonsavon. Massive stone jars, of which we know so little. Pretty impressive.

Taken while I was waiting for the guys to finish staring at the soviet tank. Dusty bumpy dirt roads led to all 3 Jar sites. (the guys, i had met up with on the bus into Phonsavon, and we split the cost of hiring the car and guide...a good day)

In order to get to the 3rd, and most impressive Plain of Jars site (there are over a dozen sites, but only 3 are sufficiently cleared of UXO to be visited safely) you must walk through rice paddies and grazing water buffalo. Surreal for a city girl....
