la frontera

--sorry to short change Peru on the write up, but I cant type anymore right now---

Crossed the border, and we have been cruising down the coast of Peru for a few days now.

northern peru: dry desert, shantytowns, hot, humid, depressing, poor... very very poor, and seemingly more desperate than anything I saw in Ecuador.

Loja-Piura (Peru) 8hr we roll into Peru in the evening. It feels like a different country. Didnt think it would. the highway is lined with these concrete walls, blocking out houses, factories, etc.. all advertising political candidates. Near the bus station, there are swarms of motos.. rickshaw looking 3 wheel buggies driven by motorcycles... feels like another world. The taxis are tiny, and they are all Daewoos. People seem to talk faster, and no one can understand what we are saying, might as well be speaking english.

Piura-Chiclayo 4hr lost power in Chiclayo while we were finishing our chicken dinner. walked around during the day, had a cebeda, a sweet drink made with fresh pineapple, but looks like icetea.

Chiclayo-Trujillo-Huanchaco 4hr  lost power for a night in huanchaco. surf and fish town. we had a bonfire on the beach with some kids we met.. had to make our own kindling by stripping the wood, and I just plucked the splinter from my finger, ouch. Great seafood and ceviche! Trujillo we find a nice hostal across from a beautiful park. Spent the afternoon at some ruins (I´ll try to be more specific next time, I just cant handle the computer anymore tonight...)

Trujillo-Lima 8hr happening tomorrow (friday) so we spend the weekend in lima.. excited actually for Lima... and to read the most recent book I picked up on a nobel prize winner sperm bank...
