Africa in Australia

AUSTRALIA | Sunday, 4 March 2007 | Views [1019]

Having spent a hot day strolling along the beach and body surfing in Cottlesole Beach, a small community between Perth and Freemantle, we were a bit daring and ventured out to a very cool dinner experience.

African Mesob is a little restaurant in Northbridge that prides itself in sharing African culture with local Australians.  Having never eaten at an African restaurant, we were entertained by the drums to play next to the tables.  Our food came in a large Mesob (woven basket) and as tradition has it, you eat with your hands, using beautiful fermented rice wrap to scoop up your food.  The flavors were so complex, and tasty.  A fantastic restaurant, great service, and lots of fun.  If you’re in Perth, you definitely need to have dinner at this spot!
