July 19th, Saturday

Gent Festivities have begun today! We will be going along later though.

So, I haven't updated since Tuesday and it is now Saturday. I've neglected you all. Ohwell. We haven't done heaps since Tuesday.

Our cooking on Tuesday night went well and everyone liked the veal. Thumbs up for us! On Wednesday we went to visit Parci's grandparents and despite a significant language barrier we seemed to get along well. I liked Parci's grandma. For the rest of the day, we went exploring the shops and the grocery stores and bridges in another area of Gent. Some shops we went to were: Colruyt, GB, and Dreamland which is a huge toy store ^^.

Then on Thursday we went for a big walk all over Gent and I saw the place where Parci was born and his first house, and I saw the place where his parents met when they were teenagers in school. I saw the poor area of Gent and the rich street and I bought new balls for my tongue bar in the Tattoo place in the far end of Gent. They're cool, they glow in black light ^^

And yesterday was Friday, and during the day we went to Marriakerke and went to the post office and tried to find a barber and went to the bank. Parci can't have two accounts in the same bank though (we were trying to open an account for me to use) so we have to go to a different bank near us. We got home in the afternoon and at 6pm we went out. The occassion was that yesterday and today is our 9months together. We wanted to celebrate it because we're together and in Belgium now. So we had dinner reserved for us at "De Gekroonde Hoofden" (The Crowned Heads, referring to the past kings of Belgium.) It was a nice steakhouse where we ate the all you can eat spare ribs 'au chef' which were yum and covered in herbs and salts and tasted delicious. When we had finished our meal, we went for a walk near the canal and cafes and saw the festival preperations being finished for Saturday. Then we got ice creams at 'Damass' and afterwards went home to champagne ^^

And now it is Saturday. We are going to the festival later on but first I think we are going back to Marriakerke to find a store that sells phone chargers because it seems that both Parci and I have left ours in England somehow and both our phones are dead. I have a sim card now and a phone number but I haven't set it up because our phones are dead. And this is killing Parci because he can't stand not being able to call people or have them call him all the time. He is going into withdrawal and it is terrible to see him suffer.

I love it here in Gent and have enjoyed every day here so far.

Time now for me to go shower and wash the grease from my hair. But first I feel like finding Parci's cats and annoying them with the toy mouse.

Oh and guess what. Nowhere in Gent sells exfoliating gloves. What the? I've been in every shop and they just don't sell them! My poor poor legs! Dit is niet goed voor mijn benen!!!!

Love Lauren xoxoxoxoxox
