It's hard to be away from family especially for the holidays. I have spent my day in my imagination following my family throughout every tradition in the day, thinking of everyone and wishing I was there more than anything. Calling and hearing everyones voice just now is something I am thankful for and brought Thanksgiving here to me in New Zealand on a sunny afternoon. I realize that without a wonderful family that I love so much to share Thanksgiving with, there isn't really Thanksgiving for me. Last night as I tried to pretend that it was Thanksgiving I sat out on the beach as the the sun was setting with the moon before me and this is what I thought-
Life is a mystery wanting to unfold its beauties and secrets to us. I believe that no matter who we are or where we are, if we desire with our hearts and look with our eyes we will find beauties untold, wisdom along the path, treasures in unexpcted places (like the lemon balm I found growing beside the creek and am now drinking in my tea), voices in the wind and rain, beautiful songs given to us by the birds in the trees, color and magic light in each sunrise and sunset. We will gain friends and develop trust in the human heart and we will find ourselves singing Thank You into the night.
May we give thousands of thanks each day.
