Day 116 - Cartagena

COLOMBIA | Wednesday, 24 September 2014 | Views [358]

Arrived to see the city lights and sounds of cartagena at around 2.35am. After a small celebration of our arrival on deck we all headed back to sleep through to sunrise.

After breakfast we said goodbye to The Perle & were firmly back on land & in old town Cartagena before 8am. Our group from the boat all settled at the same hostel but had to wait around until after 11am check in & enjoy our first shower in 7 days or so!

Spent the day cruising around Cartagena, sampling some local food & checking out the amazing street art. Becky & I settled in for a sunset beer at a local bar when we were spotted by Gunter, Anne, our Captain Mirek & assistant Henrique. They joined us for a drink & then we headed off.

Gunter & Anne joined Lindy, Becky & I at a Latin American film festival in the plaza near our hostel for the evening. The film was understandable despite being only in spanish & we all shared some Colombian artery clogging street food - patacone con todo - fried plantains topped with all sorts of meat & cheese, washed down with a beer for dinner.
