Spent the day exploring San Salvador. We started out at this little comedor for desayuno tipico- the local breakfast of eggs, beans, plantains & tortillas just near our hostel.
Fueled up we headed to the Museo de la Palabra y La Imagen to check out some of the photos taken by the martyred archbishop Romero before he was assassinated.
Eventually finding our way on foot and then on the ruta 7 collectivo bus we made it to Centro San Salvador. Toured through the Palacio Nacional & the very strange rainbow church - Iglesia el Rosario.
We ate tasty papusas for lunch & then made our way to the Jardin Botanico La Laguna for an afternoon stroll. The gardens were pretty basic & unfortunately a lot of the plants had been vandalized. On the plus side we saw a Garobo & an Iguana!
After making it back to the hostel Mario came to pick us up & we went to collect our other Belize dive buddy, Antonietta for an evening outing.
Our fabulous local friends took us up to Volcan Quezaltepeque or Volcan San Salvador to watch the sunset & same more papuses! It was a great introduction to the city & so nice to have local hosts!
