Day 56 - Flores

GUATEMALA | Wednesday, 23 July 2014 | Views [377]

Tried to go for a run around Lanquin but only managed around half an hour before was being outnumbered by trucks, bikes & pedestrians. A small & sweaty early effort nonetheless.

Our journey to Flores today was nothing short of horrible. The van was in really bad condition, seats all ripped, no leg room at all with four- five people per row & cling wrap as a back window.

There were way too many us crammed in for over 8 hours of bumpy, windy roads on a seriously hot, sticky Guatemalan summer day. The driver went way too fast, it rained on our packs & one girls big pack even flew off the roof & smashed on the side of the road!

We arrived in Flores around 6, found a super cheap & cheerful hotel & set out to explore the town. We had pretty much done the loop within half an hour & settled at a sweet little restaurant by the water for dinner.

All booked in for the sunset tour of Tikal tomorrow we have retired to the hammocks strung up on the roof of our hotel for some lazing :)
