Today we were at Jewellery School with Arturo & a few Italian jewellery students for a good 6-8 hours.
All of us were crammed into a small workshop behind Arturo's shop - Joyeria Maria De Jesus at the top end of the city in San Cristobal.
We picked out our stones, measured up our metal (a mix of bronze & gold), drew up a basic 3 step design, got a crash course in soldering & away we went!
Both our rings turned out really well & it was a heap of fun! Our successful creations were largely thanks to Arturo but our taster course was a real insight into how much work goes into a single piece of jewellery.
A fantastic way to spend our last day in Mexico. Tomorrow it's off to Guatemala where we are spending a few days in Quetzaltenango before trekking to Lago de Atitlan.
A different sort of adventure ahead!
