Day 22 - Centro Habana, Habana Veija & surrounds

CUBA | Wednesday, 18 June 2014 | Views [366]

We both slept terribly & bailed on our morning plans to run the Malecon hitting snooze until breakfast.

We had an assortment of interesting fare on offer from the Casa kitchen- eggs, spam, cheese, jam, sweet bread & fruit. We avoided the spam & stocked up on the rest :)

Armed with an actual map we set out in the hot morning sun to see the city. After walking for a bit & given how much we were being hassled by the friendly locals we decided to brave the hop on again off again city tour bus and cruised around the three main parts of Havana.

That bus ticket turned out to be an excellent investment ensuring we had transport & shelter during the afternoon storm.

Despite our obscenely tight budget we managed to have traditional Cuban meat & a mojito for lunch while watching Australia play Holland in the World Cup.

We had dinner with a really nice kiwi couple & then ventured out for some live music & another mojito. It was a pretty low key night but all we felt like!
