Day 21- La Habana

CUBA | Tuesday, 17 June 2014 | Views [291]

Despite getting dropped off & waiting at interjet's domestic terminal in Mexico City we made it to the Interjet international check in counter & then to Havana!

Landing late afternoon we hopped in our dark green Chevrolet taxi and headed towards Centro Habana to find our casa particular.

After the friendly Miguel showed us our room in his apartment we ventured out for a stroll along the Malecon which is an 8km walk along the city coastline.

It was hot & we had out share of unwanted attention but it was also a great way to take in some of the city's spectacular architecture & vibe. We passed couples snuggled together perched on the sea wall, crowds of fisherman & the odd busker with a guitar or trombone.

Every now & then we caught the sweet scent of Cuban cigars in the air. It's a seductive city that's for sure!

We had booked in at our hostal for dinner where we met an Irish father & son travelling around Cuba. They were good dinner company & our first Cuban meal was massive- fish, salad, beans & fruit.

After dinner we went on a short night walk to the other end of town & opted for a quiet night!
