After our standard morning park routine we ventured back to the Mercardo el Merced for some cheap fruit & veggies for the week. It was actually reassuring to see our spanish has improved quite a bit really - well since our last trip to Merced & we almost competently comminicated with the market vendors.
We luckily made it back from the Market just before a huge thunderstorm & had some couch time before venturing to a Oaxacan restaurant for dinner. Claire's friend Riccardo from the Bolivian Embassy was friends with the chef & suggested some tasty treats to try, in particular some fried grasshoppers which we washed down with some potent Mezcal.
We settled in for a very indulgent dinner - espresso Martinis, Mole Rojo (spicy red traditional sauce with turkey), tamales & some beautiful Bolivian vino tinto capped off with chocolate cake! By the time we finished dinner it was already 1am & we were ready to Salsa at this funky club in Roma. The place was pumping & like nothing I've ever experienced. We could barely down our mojitos without random men trying to pull us up for a dance. Despite having zero rhythm & two left feet I feel I gave my first salsa session a good go. I will say there is arguably a fine line between salsa & sleaze that I feel was crossed a few times by my dance partners but it was all good fun! Even Lindy enjoyed a short stint on the dance floor :)
Good times with good company :)
