The Labors of Bucephalus No matter how tedious life at times could become, one look out the window was enough to remind me that not far away, the world-and adventure-were impatiently waiting.-R. Morse

The Cedars of Lebanon

LEBANON | Friday, 15 February 2008 | Views [1033]

We arrived in Beirut just in time for a huge rally in remembrance of former Premier Rafiq Hariri, who was assassinated by car bomb three years ago.  As I write this, the throngs are dissolving, the rain perhaps lessening resolve to stay out longer, and the constant barrage of high-volume military songs has finally ceased.  I'm a little disappointed there wasn't more action.  Last night we could hear gunfire in the distance, most likely fired into the air by an over-zealous soldier.  This link will explain the situation better than I.
