My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited - A Middle Eastern Odyssey

As a boy growing up in the Yorkshire Dales, I've always held a deep love for the outdoors. As I grew older, this love for adventure and exploring new places grew ever stronger.
It was on a trip to Paris in my early teens, when I borrowed fathers camera, where I began to develop my passion for photography. I loved to visit new places and experience exciting cultures, and the fact that I could now document my travels added a further dimension to them, allowing me to share my experiences with others.
In the years that followed I travelled as much as I could, and as much as my student loan would allow. Whether it was a weekend in the Lake District, or a few weeks in North Africa, I made sure that my camera was never out of reach, ready to capture the untamed beauty of the outdoors and the spontaneous events that emanate from it.
I believe this opportunity would allow me to develop my technical skills immeasurably and allow me to get a foothold into the world of travel photography. Most of all, I hope this experience would give me the opportunity to continue to travel and experience the world, and not have to submit to the pressures of being holed up in an office for the rest of my days.
