We Did Hong Kong

HONG KONG | Wednesday, 18 July 2007 | Views [663]

Whewww...we've been bustling about seeing the sites, and I believe we haven't missed one! Except maybe the nightlife, but maybe one day.  Hong Kong has a fascinating history; a fishing village until the British got China hooked on India's opium.  Its skyline is a forest of highrises, its people are from everywhere; its growth a testament to the exploding near-capitalism of China.  Shopping malls and train stations are synonymous.  Hundreds of apartment highrises are built from the "copy & paste" function.  Its quite easy to get around; at least with a guide:) Its very safe, clean, and efficient too.

We've had a great time with Matthew, and are flying to Manila today.  Leah tells me its not quite so safe and predictable, but alas, it's waiting for us.  Check back soon for news on our digs (staying with Jheanette, a Filipina who we found on Craigslist), and our exciting (albeit unplanned) activities.
