the london heat wave!

hope everyone enjoyed the long weekend, although there was no long weekend for us, we've been on a long weekend for over 2 months so we cant complain.

london has been experiencing the hottest days in years..today it made the paper as a heat wave, people were wearing mini skirts and tank tops, men had no shirts on, people were sunbaking at the park in their bathers, the train conductors were warning everyone to drink lots of water on the hot trains and in general people were complaining about the heat..guess the tempreture of the london heat wave...27degrees!!!!! its been beautiful weather and its expected to continue tomorrow, yay.

All the lovely weather has meant that weve been outside lazing in the parks, reading in the parks, drinking in the parks and wandering around the town. today we visited the camden town markets...amy winehouse originates from this area, so that explains alot about the kind of stuff that is sold at the market..chunky boots, lots of black, alot more black..very interesting clothes that would have looked awesome at my 21st birthday party. lots of cheap stuff, we had fun wandering all the stalls.

yesterday we had to move hostels, we picked somewhere a little cheaper and a little closer to the centre of the city, so then the train is a little cheaper. however, the train ride from where we were in north london to west london was RIDICULOUS!!we went from our station to camden and changed trains..changing trains isnt easy either because the london underground is a sprawl, and getting between platforms and lines can be anything up to a 10 minute walk depending on the people and passages, anyway, changed lines at camden and went to kingscross, then changed again to edgware, then changed lines again to earls court and then finally got to hammersmith 2 hours later!it should take more like one hour...and we did it all with backpacks and in the london heatwave!crazy. the lesson:do not use the london underground on the weekend, the maitenance works mean that half the lines WILL be shut down, without any notice and they dont care that your journey time will be doubled.aarrrghhh.

hostel is nice..however a little strange, its more of a long term hostel and apart from us, every single occupant seems to be over 30 years old, male and creepy. luckily there are four of us with our own private room, us three and the canadian natasha.

we struck lucky and found a website selling cheap tickets for london musicals..so wednesday night we have tickets to wicked!!yay, even dan is coming to his first musical.looking forward to it already.

planning on staying in london til monday, and then going for a week or so to manchester and doncaster to see amys family.

there are fotos up of our happenings in london, theyre in the london gallery, at the end, dated 10 june...theres even evidence of amys tattoo!

 love to all

were off to check our washing..went a little crazy on the washing powder because everything was a little stinky so hoping that we havnt overdone it..if we have a rash in the photos tomorrow you will all know why...

Hi Amy, Jess & Dan
Just got back from Fiji so have enjoyed catching up on the blog thought of you when we visited one of the islands Robinson Crusoe and saw the backpackers accommodation I'm sure yours has to be better than that, we had a ball on holiday weather was great and Harry (Houdini) always running away kept us fit and entertained whilst Sarah & Julie enjoyed cocktails with anyone who would buy them for them. Must run in the family this drinking lark.

Maz has Norma's details in Spain Amy if you need them she would make you very welcome (as we did her). Ring us soon Amy and fill us in, I know you said you were going to Elise in Manchester better check then to see if Wendy & Dennis are in Doncaster as they usually go to France for the summer. Although you've still got Irene's family and Margaret & Geoff and Pat who is talking about migrating to Aus soon.

Haven't seen Gaz yet as he's out at work but the house looks suspiciously tidy so I expect he had visitors whilst we were away I'm checking the ornaments as we speak to see if he's glued any back together.

Love to you all continue having a ball (hey that rhymes), forgive me I'm still in holiday mode.

Must contact Mandy & Sue soon to catch up - are you listening Mandy!!
