THE AMAZING ADVENTURES OF JESS & DAN back on the road again...

the floating city

we arrived in venice yesterday afternoon to the main station in Venice. However venice is an island just off the mainland, so we needed to catch a bus back to the mainland because thats where our hotel is..its MUCH cheaper to stay on the mainland. Anyway, got on the right bus, it was only a 7 minute ride and the bus driver SAID he would yell out for our stop..obviously he forgot because 10mins later we asked and he said we had missed it and needed to get off and catch the bus on the other side of the road back to our stop...arrgghh....finally got the right bus and wandered looking for the hotel to finally find that we were looking right at it. its a nice hotel, we had dinner here last night because we were buggered after spending day on train and buses. i had a very nice pasta, and dan and amy had huge pizzas, i also had a very good tiramisu.

breakfast was on the hotel today, so we had bread and cheese and ham, and yoghurt and chocolate biscuits, and coffee and juice, was good and we ate as much as possible..its free!

caught the bus back to island, its only 7 mins when u get on at the right stop! We wandered venice for the day looking at the shops, there are alot of masquarade ball shops selling the masks for the huge carnavale festival in venice, apparently its huge. Alot of very expensive looking shops as well. The streets of venice are the worst labelled streets i have ever seen and we got very very lost wandering, but it was good we just kept walking the islands not that big. Crossed all the little bridges and watched the gondolas go past. Would have loved to ride one but they are ridiculously expensive, so we got the cheapo version and caught the water bus.

Visited the main square in venice and fed the pidgeons..hungry buggers.

Were planning to go out for dinner later. I tried to load some photos on but this computer is too slow and cant handle fotos, sorry.

hope all is well.

Catching a 8.45am train to salzburg tomorrow, will arrive at there at 4pm in arvo.

love to all

hello happy travellers!

Great to see you are having an awesome time - i just read about the last 7 of your comments today as i have been on me teaching rounds and i am soooo busy, but really enjoying it. Now at mlc (methodist ladies college) which should be interesting!

Anywho - back to the camera - instead of taking out the card have u tried connecting camera straight to pc via usb cable, could work... also make sure when you transfer that you copy past and not just transfer - that could also be a problem.

Anyway have a blast. When you get to Austria greet everyone with Grüß Gott (pronounced grews got) which in reality means hello - they'll love u for it! Also "sprechen Sie Englisch (prounounced spreachen zee englisch) which means do u speak english could help!!!

Have a blast and looking forward to more travel entries - B!
