Wednesday 14th August

Great day we had found a ticket to Santorini Island and were on our way.
We made it down to the pier and boarded the HUGEST boat we have ever seen. We had to pay a bit more money to get comfy seats and a faster boat so it took us 5hrs to get there. W arrived and the water right near the pier is SO clear you can see to the bottom, it's beautiful. We had lunch near the pier as we didn't know how to get into the main town Thira (Fira). We were then told at the restaurant the cheapest way to get there is by bus but the next bus doesn't come till another boat comes. So caught a bloody taxi to our hotel on the other side of the island and it cost us 15 euros. We checked in and then had a little snooze as we were both really tired.

We then headed down to Kamari beach (black beach) were we walked around for hours trying to hire a scooter to ride around the island.
Of course there were no scooters for hire due to the bloody peak season.
We then decided to catch the local bus transport to Oia (eia), they cram SO many people into these bloody buses that no one can breath! We got to Oia to watch the sunset and we were so happy to get off the bus.

There were HEAPS of people there watching the sunset, that it was every man for himself to try and find somewhere to sit and watch i go down. We got some really awesome photos of your typical Greek island houses.
After the sun had set everyone started yelling and clapping, like they had seen the best show ever...it was a bit funny!

We then caught the bus back and went to dinner where Jamie once again had lamb. However they cooked the lamb in a Terra gotta small dish. When they bring it out they put two plates together with the terra cotta dish in the middle of them, then the waiter flips the dish over and it all spills out perfectly on the plate.

Thursday 15th August

Got up late after sleeping through our alarm, then headed to the Beach.
Jamie went for a swim in the Mediterranean sea. It was quite cool, but the sand to get to the water was black and had big pebbles so it was 'ooch ouch' just to get to the water. When Jamie dried off there were flakes of salt on his skin because of the water being soooo salty.
We then went back to our hotel were we went for a swim in the pool and to bake in the sun, before we move to UK and never see sun again.

We then headed to the party side of Santorini (Thira) where we watched the sunset from there as well.

Thursday 16th August

We got up late and checked out of our hotel and headed to the bus stop to go to Red beach. The whole island is all volcanic rock and this beach had red sand and red rocks al around it. We had to trek down this hill in our pluggers trying not to fall over due to the loose rocks.
When we finally made it we both had a swim in the Mediterranean sea for 5mins. We then had to quickly get back to the bus stop so that we could go to our hotel grab our gear and get to the pier to catch our boat back to Athens. Cause most of the tickets were taken due to peak season. We had to get a really cheap economy ticket where we sat it this 'food court' area on the boat for 9 1/2 hours. We arrived back in Athens at 1:30am an caught a taxi to our hotel, not really caring what we paid! We got 4 hours sleep before we had to be up and go to Olympia at 5:30am. Didn't get much monies worth for our nights accommodation.
