Friday 17th August
Got up early and made our way to the train station to get to the other bus terminal so we could go to Olympia (Birth place of the Olympic Games).
Took us 5 1/2 hours by bus to Olympia with awesome scenery along the way.
When we got there it was like a ghost town cause everyone likes to go to the Greek Islands.
We checked into this really nice quiet hotel and then headed to the Archaeological site where the fist Olympics where held in the old days.
We spent a couple of hours there looking at all the old sites. We walked out to the athletics field and ran, (I mean walked) around the track. We took photos of us crossing the old finish line and standing in the officials box.
We then went back to the hotel to have a shower go out to dinner. On our way to the hotel this jeweller puled us into his store and asked us if we wanted to see photos of his uncle who ran with the torch in Olympia for the 2000 Sydney Olympics. Whilst telling us this, he was trying to sell as much jewellery as possible, as you can imagine!
Saturday 18th August
We got up early to go to the museum before we had to catch the bus back to Athens. A lady and her husband the day before had given us the ticket for free because they had run out of time and had o go back home. So we had to go to the museum even though we only had a couple of hours to see the exhibits.
We then caught a bus back to Athens, stayed there for one night then flew back to London the following morning on the Sunday 19th.
