We arrived in Quebec City and had to walk up a huge hill...well with our heavy backpacks on it felt huge! We checked into our hostel and went for a walk around the city. There was SO much snow it was incredable. So we walked around the city walls around to the St Lawrence river where there was ice frozen over on it. There was a ferry ploughing through the ice getting from once side of the river to the other. We then caught it over ourselves and could here the ice crushing as we went through. There is a massive hotel called Chateau Frontenac which is the most photogarphed hotel in the world. Rightly so because it is GORGEOUS. When we took the farry accross the river we went at sunset and stayed till the lights of the hotel were on so we could get some cool photos.
The next day we went to book a tour bus for $44 Canadian to go to Montmorency Falls just outside of Quebec city. We left it too late to book and they had run out of room. Luckily they had because it was a complete rip off. We then asked how else we could get there and there is two buses that you can catch that only cost $4.70 return to the waterfall. So we saved so much money...YAY!
The waterfall was amazing as water frozen on top but there was water still cascading down underneath the ice. There is a suspension bridge that you walk over the waterfall and can see all of it. Jamie of course tried to make it swing. Very scary!
We left Quebec the next day and got to Ottawa at 6:30pm. We managed to catch the bus into town and some little old lady helped us find the backpackers. We are staying in a hostel that is an old Jail that's supposed to be haunted and Candice is scared but Jamie pretends not to be! We have to go to bed now so we will let you know if we make it through the night...
