In MIA and am at the gate - hearing Hatian Creole for the first time now...thankfully I do recognize it. That's a step. Gotta go find some coffee as the stores are just beginning to open - 6am looms. Uneventful flights but for sitting with nice lady with a dog for the shot hop from SFO to LAX.
Arrival. Not as bad as I'd thought or imagined, but there's also a part of me that's sure I've not absorbed it all yet. The drive to the compound was rather unbeleivable. I'll video record the return trip as I didn't have my camera available during the drive. Traffic flows but surprisingly without any rhyme or reason nor any obvious traffic laws or 'rules of thumb'. But it does flow slowly. But the state of life and sanitation cannot be described.
It's hot and muggy just as promised. Water is either warm or hot for drinking. I'm the outsider at the moment, but that will change in the coming days I'm sure.
I feel over prepared just at the moment. Likely WAY too much food supplements, but alas I was unsure and I'd rather be over than under...although I've seen what we are using for a circular saw and I am kicking myself a bit for not just going for the Skil Saw.
Bandwidth is quite low here apparently so it's against the rules of behavior to do video or audio so I'm afraid this blog will be strictly a jumble of words and the rest will have to come later.
To be perfectly honest, there is a tickling part of me that wonders if I've bitten off more that I ought to be chewing. But I'm here now. Blaze on, McFly!
