My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

2 - Seclusion. From the convict time through to the 1960’s, the Whaler was the only means of supplying Norfolk Island with goods, and it is still in partial use today. The main ship would arrive from Australia or New Zealand, anchored out at sea due to the reefs and rocky outcrops surrounding the island. The Whalers would meet the ship, exchanging supplies before returning to the small harbour.
