Getting organized

Having time to ourselves in my cousin's downtown condo has certainly worked out well! We've had time to take care of business, and get down to reducing that baggage load that I spoke of earlier. I nearly died laughing when we left Winnipeg with our luggage in tow! It was, to put it mildly, a bit unwieldy. Well, Jerry has taken it upon himself to tell all about travelling lightly and safely, and we have been eager subscriber's to his travel seminar. We have money belts now, we're about to purchase luggage locks and cable locks, and, under Jerry's tutelage, we are downsizing our baggage! It's exciting and right on! Fate has also helped us along a little. Our video camera quit working. It weighed about a pound and was many times bigger than a digital still camera. And that's not including the tripod bag and accessories! The batteries alone contributed a heft of weight. So, that's that. It's in the shop. We walked down to the Sony store from here, just over on Granville past Nelson, which included some good, steep uphill climbing and then over the Cambie Bridge to Broadway and the CAA (which unfortunately had closed 15 minutes before we got there) and back along Broadway to the other side of Cambie to the local MEC. There, we bought our money bags, and some convertible quick dry pants for me. Shopping there gave us a chance to rest from all the walking. We took the Cambie bridge back over English Bay, and then the sea wall home to Jerry's. It was a lot of walking, and a perfect contrast to those long hours on the bus. We're off now to one of Jerry's favourite travel shops!

The Granville Island area is a great place to visit and explore. I too used to live in Vancouver. So when I visitm I make the Granville market a place to shop and have a beer at the pub on the water. Ahh memories... We used to rent sail boats in the marina by the market.

All the Best, Dave and Fran
