Planes, Trains and Rickety Wheels

Geneva day by day

SWITZERLAND | Thursday, 13 June 2013 | Views [486]

And so it begins; newly branded with a sinful smile, i jump on a train to the airport. My bags overflowing with junk, lets hope they let me on the plane with so many bags.

Arriving at City Hostel Geneva i am welcomed by a hesitant Swiss trying out his best English (i try in French but only got as far as 'Bonjour, Combien cue Anglish Bibliotech?', loosly translated, hi how much English Library? Cheers GCSE French) OO the beds have memory foam.

A breif meeting with one woman in my dorm, she wears pot sock, need i say more. Off to explore a swiss breakfast.

First attempt at speaking French...tradgic, all i could mutter was 'Anglais?' Ignorant!

A chill runs down my spine as i sit on a wall by Lake Geneva. ducks surround me as i open my crisps. I've thrown some to a small bird to lure it closer to my camera. Tip number 1. Always carry snacks, not just for you but potensial wildlife models.

Well i'm half way through my Geneva excursion. I was told it's a smal city that wont fill 4 days but i seem to have quite a bit still left to do. So many Beautiful buildings. I could live here i think. A mix of Rome and Prague, the old town at least. With cobbled paths and steap steps to a suprise exit.

Walking back to the hostel after reading by the Jet D'eau, which hasn't een on today, while watching the sun go down and BAM, on comes the fountain. Plan is, to come back tonight and hope it's illuminated. The day's been a warm adventure with sorbet.

I never got to see it up close, i sat for 2 hours waiting, and nothing! Oh well. Every evening i would walk ast a small cafe or shop outside which, older gentlemen would sit, crowded round garden furniture, smoking sheesha and playing board games. All laughing, cheating, trying their luck.
