Caught the ferry in Hirsthals Denmark across to Kristiansand in Norway. Guess what? Double rain when we got there!! However, Norway looks spectacular even in the rain. Beautiful scenery with fjords, waterfalls, mountains and forest. Drove out on a peninsula to Lindesnes, home of Norway’s oldest lighthouse. Stayed overnight and woke to sun – yeah! Explored the lighthouse, the warren of WWII bunkers and walked on a demanding coastal path which was more of a climb than a walk. Great views all around. Moved on to stay the night at Flekkefjord, a pretty fjord side town. Strange night, first the local drunk wanted to talk to us but the only English he knew was Beatles songs so he sang them to us! Then the boy racers drove past the site until about 2am with the loudest music ever, so loud our motorhome was shaking. Never judge a town by its pretty appearance….
Next day we drove out onto a peninsula for a walk up Blufjell and down to some ice age potholes. Just about managed to get to the peak of the fell after a gruelling climb, again not really path more of a rock climb. Good fun though and the weather held up. However, we didn't make it to the potholes. After climbing down some near vertical sections on our finger tips and toes the shear rock face that followed was too much for us!! Even with the metal rings embedded in the rock to help!
Altogether about a 4 hour walk/climb, managed to keep dry but I don't think our walking boots will ever be dry again!! Without the waterproof socks I think we would have foot rot by now!!
Got a partial solution to the photos, I won't be able to put the photos I have already taken on the blog but going forward I can add the ones taken on my phone. Hope you enjoy the few we have taken so far.
