Spectacular drive to and through the Telemark region. Stayed in Rjukan which is famous for the Heroes of Telemark who were a group of resistance fighters in Nazi occupied Norway during WWII. They successfully sabotaged the factory in Rjukan which was producing the heavy water needed for the production of the atom bomb by the Nazi's. Then sank the boat transporting the heavy water to Germany. We know all this thanks to Ross who lent us the film. We watched it parked up in a picnic area next to the lake where the boat was sunk. We saw the hydro plant, train line and port in Rjukan that still look exactly like the 1960s film. Fascinating history visit, many thanks to the saboteurs without their bravery the outcome of WWII could have been very different. There aren't hardly any photos becaue we only admired the view as we travelled, it was double rain the whole time!! On the plus side lots of rain equals many spectacular waterfalls. Fantastic road trip through Norway, a very pretty country. Off to Sweden next.
