Tropical Days

FIJI | Sunday, 31 August 2008 | Views [466]

We had a wonderful holiday in Fiji. I know, you all think our life is a permanent holiday while we're travelling but every now and again you do need to stop for a bit and just chill out before hitting the road again. So our tropical paradise was a chance to do just that. We gave in to temptation and spent most of our time lazing around - sunbathing, snorkelling and swimming - weather permitting of course. Shock horror, it rained non-stop for 3/4 days! There is a reason for all that lush vegetation! W didn't let it spoil our fun and used those days to do a few more trips to explore the island.

We did have a bit of excitement one night when our tent nearly caught fire (an ensuite tent with a proper bed is definitely my idea of camping by the way). We'd gone back for an early night and smelt something a bit funny but it was only when I saw smoke in the bathroom we realised what was happening. Although Dave did take a little convincing that something was up when I called for him to come quick. When he eventually reacted, we found the water heater in flames, so while Dave switched the gas off I got help and we saved the day!

Then with recharged batteries we hit the road again but that's another story...
