We spent a few short days in Miami at the end of our holiday, to shop, eat junk food and visit the Everglades.
The hotel was strategically located between International Mall & Dolphin Mall and it enabled us to update our wardrobes, buy some goodies for our next planned trip to Micronesia and indulge in being in civilisation (but thankfully for only a couple of days). We certainly got our fill of both shopping and junk food ( I can live without seeing another fastfood burger for many months to come), and also got to see out first 3D film - Shrek 3. I have seen the future and the future is 3D !!!
We spent a day in the Everglades, we entered the National Park at Shark Valley (there are 3 entrances). It was blisteringly hot, so we chose the easy option of jumping on a scheduled tram ride around the paved section of the park. The tour took a couple of hours and we saw a whole host of birdlife as well as turtles and what we had really come to see - the Everglades Aligators.
Even after 3 days we had had our fill of Miami and I certainly don't feel the need to spend anytime there in the future, however, it served its purpose :)
