Typical storage container for pisco called a botija. The origin of the name pisco came from the word Quechua. Translated to English it means bird and the body of this bird looks very similar to the botija.

Visited a pisco distillery in Ica, Peru called El Catador that still makes it the old fashioned way. Here is the area where the grapes are stomped with bare feet.then pressed.

To ferment the pisco it was poured into a giant vat, sealed with plaster then boiled using a wood oven.
