The prominent religion in Valparaiso during the 1800's was catholic. The catholic church allowed other religions to practice their faith just as long it didn't compete too much with the Catholic faith. To ensure the other religions didn't get too popular they were'nt allowed to build their church with a front door. Catedral Angelicana de St Paul is a evangelical church built in 1858 with a small side door for it's practitioners to enter.
