So i have arrived in one piece in Bangkok, with no major flight dilemmas or weirdos trying to kidnap and sell me to feed their family..
Impressions so far - it's far too hot. I hope that i start to acclimatise soon as i can't handle the heat when it involves walking around a city being a sweaty beast all day. I just want to jump into a pool when it's like this! In fact, it's just started pouring as i speak. It apparently rains most days in September and it's the rainiest month (obviously i didn't think about this when i booked!!)
I haven't taken any photos so far (except my wee room which i've uploaded). It's tiny but has air-con so when i leave it feels like i'm walking into a sauna, no exaggeration.
After i arrived about 5-6pm i took a cold shower then went for a wee nosy down Khao San road which is the main backpacker area and i'm staying in a hostel just off it. There's so much going on you don't really know where to look. Noisy cheesy music, a delicious smell of street food, lots of tacky tourist shops/neon lights and wee people trying to sell junk. What i did notice is they don't come up and force things in your face to make you buy them, which is refreshing. I'll try and get a video uploaded at some point.
I ended up going to a restaurant and had spring rolls and vegetable noodles, delicious!
My hostel is pretty small so not seen anyone to be-friend yet but i'm planning on doing a wee bike tour tomorrow so will be with a group. Feel a bit of a loser not taking advantage of the bars & clubs going on round about me but i am shattered!!
