If any of you are wondering why I haven't written may I say there's a very simple reason. I've gone insane.
I thought doing this show for another (3rd) year would, on the whole, not be a huge challenge. And in some respects it isn't. I go on and say a few things and sing a few lines with two other men. I go off. I go on and dance around a bit and have a short scene with a young woman who might be my daughter. I go off. I go back on and become one of the cogs in the End Of Act One dance machine.
I go off.
I go on dressed in a very loud and strange morning suit and push a bed around in a surreal dream sequence. I go off.
I come back on to say three lines. I go off.
I come back on and my love interest and I run around like mad things for two and a half minutes and try to be hilarious. She does most of the singing.
Wedding scene. I have one line. Which consists of two words. But the rest of the cast smile at me and clap politely and I feel included.
More dancing and singing but it's calm and far more “Seven Brides For Seven Brothers” than “Stomp”.
I go off.
I put on a very, very loud glam 70s lycra jump suit and four-inch heeled silver boots and do the last bit of singing and dancing although my head mic has just been removed so the singing is for show. I wave to the audience as I go off. We all do.
Please kill me.
Like the sunrise in the morning, life is dawning
Move on
