Finally, house sold, contents stored, rucksacks packed and ready to go - all 35 hours of travel by train, plane and foot from Shrewsbury UK to Brisbane, Australia.

Brisbane is a very relaxed, friendly and civilised city full of parks, museums, galleries and sky-scrapers. The cycle paths and walkways alongside the river are great for an early morning run when your body thinks it should be awake even though it's only 5am. It is easy to see why so many people who come here want to stay, that is until you buy a beer and need a sit down when you find out the price! There are even public barbecues strategically placed in scenic spots where lizards as big as my arm ( I only have short arms) are ready waiting for anything tasty. Hostel guests are all very friendly if, shall we say, a little younger than us.

So far, loving Australia!
