So weve been in Shanghai for a good few days now and its easily the kind of place i could see myself coming back to - wether to visit or to stay. Tomorrow we board the train in the early am to a little place called Guilin, where we'll stay for about 20 minutes before catching a bus to the nearby town of Yangshu. This tiny town, population 300,000, is apparently a backpacker mekka, with everything being geared towards the great unwashed. Weve been told to expect ice cold beer for just a few pence, ice cold bedrooms for a few pence more and super cool locals with a very nonchilant attitude towards everything completely free of charge. If only it wasnt for the 24 hour long train journey to get there id be excited... punishing. When next i write, we'll be there - numb buttocks and cabin fever in tow.
