My thoughts about . . .

Scooter-ing Along 1

Yesterday I hit it right. Knowing that Bush was in town and that traffic would be blocked everywhere, I left extra early for my 5:00 appointment. I had a meeting at Termini train station. So, thinking I was clever, I circumvented Trastevere and took another route. I ended up near Circus Maximus and in a huge traffic jam. Geez, I thought I was going to avoid this.

The jam actually started way before, down near the Piramide. The beauty of a scooter is that you can weave in and out and get to the head of the jam and see what exactly the hold up is. Scooten along, I thought--with all the police—municipal, state and military-- on duty for the US President, who is going to write me a ticket for driving on the sidewalk? In no time at all, I made it to the head of the blocked traffic to find the problem.

The presidential motorcade was passing in that very moment. I am not a Bush fan but seeing the black stretch limo with the American seal on the side did in fact tug strings on my patriotic heart. After that tugging, I thought, dang!! who is paying for all of this. I have never seen so many stretch limos and big automobiles on the Roman roads.

My last thought as I drove on my merry way--I wonder if Bush saw the sticker plastered to my windshield –Hillary!for President.
