The BIG Trip

Rambling in Regensburg

GERMANY | Thursday, 20 October 2011 | Views [513]

First day in Pfaffenhofen began with another fantastic breakfast (courtesy of Uta – Simon’s Mum). This road trip is determined to make us put on all the weight we lost in Asia and the beginning of Europe! Hans (Simon’s Dad) lent us his car for the day so we had loads of room and Simon got to go faster than the Toyota Yaris allows when chocka block with us + gear.

On the road to Regensburg to visit Simon’s sister Lisa, she was at home with her daughter Johanna sick from school so we had cake, cuppa and chats with them before heading off to explore the town itself. In town we tasted delicious local mini-sausages with sweet mustard, saw a BIG spider, theatre, town hall, river, ancient bridge, watched cats clambering (and fighting) in trees outside a big old church, found a cafe named Anna, loads of stencil graf and a pretty good coffee to keep us warm.

We headed back to Lisa’s place as her husband Juan Diego was back from work – he is Columbian and shares many things in common with Bray...including ‘screen addiction’, liking for sweet treats and enjoyment of Kiwi music. He has the latest Naked & Famous album – woohoo! More hot drinks and chats before we headed home to Pfaffenhofen for dinner. Uta had prepared her famous goulash with potato cakes = delicious!

Chats after dinner and a few episodes of Breaking Bad watched before bed. A good day.
