After an
early breakfast and cleaning up the flat we hit the road toward Pfaffenhofen.
Grey and cold today but we still had fun!
A brief
bun-stop en route with all of us heading into the forest to go to the loo –
Roni managed to munt her right shin on a sharp branch while exiting the forest.
Much blood and maybe she will have a scar to show for it... We made it to
Neuschwanstein Castle. Pretty much the most visited castle in Deutschland.
Tourists all over the show despite the weather, we decided against paying 5
euro for parking and 2 euro to use the i-site bathroom!! Instead we parked in
their 10m free parking and ran around taking multiple pics before driving
around the corner to another castle and
lake to take more pics while getting strange looks from tourists because Roni
was in jandals and they wore beanies, gloves and puffer jackets.
Back on the
road then an outlet outdoor store stop where Maren & Simon picked up a
couple of things for their upcoming NZ trip. The mist and rain had combined to
make everything grey and visibility very low, we encountered a herd of cows
coming along the road through the grey. Two people in hi-vis jackets on bikes
accompanied them and we almost felt like we were in NZ as they surged around
the car and we waited.
Our arrival
in Pfaffenhofen was met with much joy and cake by Simon’s Mum (Uta) and we enjoyed
chats and sitting in the toasty warm house before dinner with Simon’s Dad
(Hans) on his return from work. Delicious!
A relatively
early night had by all after showtime of road trip photos and much chatting.
