Another good
day. Roni was awake early today for a catch up skype with Randles – yay – and even
Brayden was up before 10am!
Simon and
Maren headed off for their last day of work for two weeks and we had brekkie
before beginning to sort our road trip bags. This morning was also the time we
organised our transport (train) to London and Aberdeen (bus) for next month –
great to have that sorted.
For lunch we
did our utmost to finish off last night’s Thai green curry then caught up on journal
and some stretching before Maren returned from work.
Today was
definitely autumnal – loads of rain. Chats with Maren this arvo were cool and
Bray worked his magic on the weather – stopped the rain in a promised 15min
before burning his thumb dramatically on an afternoon tea portion of green
curry! We chilled, shared stories, and looked at info about Niue, Majorca and
other random places on the internet.
Next we made
our way to the local Lidl supermarket to rendevouz with Annette and Tatu (Simon
& Maren’s friends who they are generously sharing with us). Here there were
many ideas floated regarding what we could cook for dinner before savoury
filled pancakes were decided on. All ingredients successfully located (despite
linguistic challenges - the mixture of Spanish, German and English between us five caused much confusion at times) and we almost got out of the store unscathed – until Bray
tried to take a photo to immortalise the moment and was reprimanded firmly in
German by a staff member.
Maren filled
us in later and apparently this chain of stores have had some bad press in the
past and are super protective!
Off to
Annette & Tatu’s place next where the girls worked in the kitchen while the
boys drank beer and discussed football and rugby...Tatu is from Uruguay and actually
cares about rugby – rare in this neck of the woods!!
Eventually
we tagged out and the men got amongst the sauce creation and meat cooking.
Simon arrived late from work as we dug in and a delicious meal was enjoyed by
all.
Some fun
conversation and relaxing company later and yawns were spreading like wildfire...We
four excused ourselves and headed home to sort a last few things before hitting
the hay (hopefully prior to 1am) as we want to be on the road by 11am tomorrow
if possible!
