Another slow
start with loads of washing – seems to be the trend! After a morning munch we
set out to explore Brouwershaven a little.
Wearing our
jackets for the first time in AGES we set out into the wind. Turned out to be
warm though windy and the jackets came off pretty quickly! We went for a walk
around the water past the mini windmill and discovered a farm-park-like-thing.
Just through the fence there were deer (FINALLY) of all sizes, including a stag
with impressive antlers that Bray fed some nice green grass. There was also an
emu (random!), goats, peacock & peahens, guinea fowl, chickens galore and
ducks. We watched them for a while, fed the stag some more and the chickens
followed us along the fence-line hoping for snacks that weren’t forthcoming.
Continuing
on past the lock we made our way to a mini-beach where we watched sailboats and
windsurfers while clambering around on the rocks. On around the water further
to blackberries (yum), more mini-beaches and a holiday park. We were getting
peckish by this stage so went home via the supermarket for a few supplies to
eat a late lunch.
The relaxing
nature of the day continued as we watched a DVD with some tasty chips of a crazy
Dutch flavour – our new favourite. Then it was scone time...we had the urge to
make some cheese scones and Jeanine hadn’t had them since her time in NZ so
they were a welcome treat for all.
Jeanine
returned with Dino (fast asleep) after 7pm and we caught up over our late
dinner with news of the day. An earlier night tonight – a.k.a before 1am!
