Last day in
SE Asia. Roni was up early labelling more photos and Bray went out to hunt
& gather. He returned with a delicious breakfast of sticky rice, two kinds
of meat and spicy sauce. Awesome. Then the photos were finally finished – whew
– over 600 on Angkor Wat day alone! Off we trotted to burn discs...only to find
the information from yesterday was incorrect and it would take 7 DVDs and cost
an arm and a leg to do so. Headed off to the mall to search for a usb drive or
something...nada. Then to the post office to send bits and pieces home to
lighten our load before going home to pack our packs (via the 7-11 of course!).
Headed out
after 5pm – carrying our lives on our backs to Ekkamai BTS station, train to Phaya
Thai (interesting with all our luggage + hordes!) then connected to the airport
train. Once at the airport we checked in (overweight but they didn’t charge us
– yay!) all the way through to Barcelona. Grabbed a bite to eat and through
passport control to pass the four or so hours until our flight. On the way
through security Bray had his Kathmandu cutlery set confiscated – gutted. It
was in the front pocket of his backpack instead of the pack and he had
forgotten L Once through we are now in the COLD air
conditioned lounge areas catching up on the travel journal with our
complimentary 15m of free wi-fi (we get it by showing our boarding pass and
passport).
Will head
through the gate (G3) after 11pm and then we are on our way to Europe – scary!
We land in Heathrow around 0630 on Tuesday then leave 0930 (by Airbus!) to
arrive in Barcelona just after 12 noon. Roni is freaking out just a little
about driving the brand new Peugeot 308 on the ‘wrong side’ of the road after 2
months of no driving at all. Bray (and Roni a lil’ too) is freaking out as we
are leaving the safety of SE Asia and it will all be new and scary again!
Exciting though.
