A slow start
today, eventually got up and headed out in search of a movie theatre still
showing Transformers III. We found the closest
BTS station (Ekkamai) and a mall with a movie theatre. They weren’t
showing it L
We got some food as by now (after 12!) we were definitely in need of some. Checked out the shops to no avail – though
Roni found some of the solution for her contacts.
On our way
home we split up on the corner of Rama IV – Bray to photograph some graf we had
spotted and Roni to check out the price
of burning files to DVD (to send home as a ‘safety’). There were a bunch of
policemen on the corner who thought we looked suspect so asked to search Bray’s
bag and see his identification. Roni was oblivious across the road on her mish
until a policeman came across and summoned her back in no uncertain terms.
Bewildered, she complied and found Bray in the midst of a mini-interrogation –
is that your wife, where are you from, where are you staying, what are you
doing, we search for drugs, we need passport...etc They patted him down, checked the camera
case, tried to take his money belt until he told them to stop touching him. He
got it out for them and they checked Roni’s laptop bag too.
After this
drama we headed home to do some washing and searching the net for movie
showings, located one at Siam Paragon. At this time we checked our flights for
Tuesday night again...during this process Bray worked out that we needed to
check in on MONDAY night for our Tuesday 10 past midnight flight! Good to
know!!! Headed out on the BTS to Siam Paragon and there was a Japan Festa (like
a festival...) going on outside near the fountains with live music, hordes and
loads of anime/manga dressed peeps! We even saw Darth Vader and Conan in the
mall! Siam Paragon was a little elite shopping-wise for us but we bought
tickets for the 10.10pm showing of Transformers – happy!
Next door to
Siam Centre and then on to MBK in search of some shoes for Bray. His last pair
of ‘knock arounds’ didn’t survive the Otres experience and needed replacing.
Roni set up shop in each mall and labelled photos while he hunted.
Unfortunately his feet or the prices were too big on any shoe that fit the bill
so we left empty handed.
Back to Siam
Paragon for our 4DX experience! Did we mention that Transformers was only
showing in 4D or IMAX?
Basically it
meant that we had 3D, the seats moved, there was wind, flashing lights and
sometimes water spray – all the bells and whistles! Transformers III was as we
expected – cheese, gratuitous heaving beasts, lots of Americana, Optimus was
awesome, Sam actually got some skills and the fights were pretty mean. We
enjoyed it for what it was.
It didn’t
finish until 0110 so we hailed a cab and went home. Roni trucked on with photo
labelling for an hour or so before we crashed out.
