The BIG Trip

What Wat?

THAILAND | Thursday, 7 July 2011 | Views [440]

Today was epic.

Started wandering through Phra Ram Park really early...no one around but us and a MASSIVE water lizard out for a swim! Much excitement and some unco-ordinated video taping by Roni :-P

We then set about seeing a fair few Wat...Wat Phra Si Sampet, Wat Phra Ram, Wat Mai Chai Vichid, Wat Thammikarat and Wat Mahathat to name a few! Wat are temples/ruins and there are many here as Ayutthaya was the old capital of Thailand...

Some of these we found by accident as one of the coolest wasn't even on the map! The sun seems hotter here as there is much less air pollution than Bangkok and we both were pinker for it at the end of today.

Had a fabulous day seeing much of the old city... then went for another long walk in the evening and discovered Ayutthaya's National Art Museum, an awesome sculpture at the Uni, some local Ayutthayans having their evening exercise and a yummy sidewalk dinner as is now our norm!
