A slow start to our morning with breaki @ 8, packing last things and a dip in the pool to cool ourselves off before our journey to Ayutthaya.
We get into the minivan and we are the first to be picked up, unsure of who will be joining us on our journey. There is no boot or trailer for our luggage, so our packs ride with us on the first row of seats. We pick up 8 from our next stop, bags jammed in, us all seated and our journey can begin...but then we stop to pick up 3 more. Sqeezed and eased in we ride. 1.30pm
I'm unsure of the speed limit here in Thailand and apparently so is everyone else. We made some cracking pace, hitting some massives bumps sending people and bags flying. The driver eases up for a bit, but his conscience settles and we pace it again. We made one stop en route, broke down while in Ayutthaya, and changed vans to arrive at our accomadation by 4.30pm.
Checking in, they move a person from what is to be our room to another. We then find out its an Aussie (from Tasmania) backpacking his way from South East Asia through to India. Bags dropped and still dirty from our journey, we head off to find the train station to book our tickets to Chiang Mai. With not too much trouble the station is located and we have tickets (Sunday night sleeper train). In our success we sit down to a roadside meal and a 7/11 beverage. Meal downed and snacks picked up, we venture back.
Now home and clean, we are settling in and relaxing while planning our next few days in Ayutthaya.
