China officially (it has the Olympic rings on it and everything) hate France.
I'm not quite sure why the hate is just restricted to the country that serves amazing wine and cheese.
Today, the assignment in class went something like this:
"You have $500 to redecorate a coffee shop and choose a new menu."
First, the had a hard time grasping how much $500 is. They were buying 40 new chairs, repainting the wall, adding TVs and stereos, and restructuring the building.
Second, they all wanted the coffee shop to become a sports bar/casino/disco/tea house. All that serve coffee, of course.
Third, one group wanted the message of the new wall decorations to be politically incline. I think they were trying to get a rise out of me, but I just ignored.
"We want to repaint the walls to say 'Olympics 2008', 'We Love China', and 'France is stupid'."
That's a paraphrase.
But the lesson was that even my somewhat well-educated students are on the "We hate France" bandwagon.
