Megumi and I tried out Clover Cafe near our apartment for lunch. We had their "healthy lunch" set. I love the attention to detail the Japanese as a culture as a whole gives to food presentation!
Bottom left: sticky "brown rice" with toasted sesame seeds and a pickled plum on top. Top left: salad with sesame seed dressing. Orange and black: shredded carrots and a black variety of sea weed. (Yummy!) Clockwise on the white clover plate starting at 12 o'clock: pickled goya (green), diakon (white), and carrot (I don't like pickled things, but Megumi said they were good); unidentied food - Megumi had no idea either, but it had a pastry dough outside and pureed, cooked inards; chicken with skin; and the first way I've found that I actually don't mind eating tofu - wrapped in beef! Who woulda thunk?! Top right: veggies. Bottom right: miso soup with tofu, sea weed, and onion. And that big leaf under the dishes is real! Very fun!
With the set we also had dessert and iced tea, which you can see pics in the "Summer Cupcake" gallery.
Definitely an interesting meal. I tried everything except the things I knew were definitely pickled (and enjoyed almost all of it.) And yes, Mama, I did eat a lot of the vegetables - but I'm in a foreign country, so it doesn't mean I want to eat veggies in the States! hehehe
